How to Use your Acupressure Mat
Follow these simple instructions to get the maximum benefit out of your HIMALAYA Acupressure Mat:
- Place your acupressure mat on a flat surface, such as a bed, couch, or floor.
- Lie carefully on your back with your skin in direct contact with the contact points for the best results (a thin sheet may be used initially to help you get used to the sensation).
- A rolled-up towel or pillow may be placed under the neck for added comfort.
- Try to lie still, breathing slowly and evenly.
- Some minor discomfort can be expected for the first few minutes of your first few uses, after 3-5 minutes your body should begin to feel warm and tingly. Try to stay on for at least 10 minutes the first few times.
- Once your body has accustomed to using the mat for 10 minutes at a time, slowly increase your time on the acupressure mat by 5 minutes per use, until you reach the ideal time of 30-40 minutes.
- Using the acupressure mat for longer periods is perfectly safe; you may even fall asleep on it! If you do fall asleep on the mat, simply remove it when you wake.
After using your HIMALAYA Acupressure Mat it is recommended that you drink water to help your body safely remove toxins that may have been release during your session.
When your body has become accustomed to the acupressure mat you can begin to introduce the mat to other parts of the body – such as your back/spine, neck, stomach, feet, jaw and face, hips and thighs,
Below find examples of various suggested positions for different "target" areas of the body. For best results, do not wear clothing
| Back/Spine: Start out using your HIMALAYA ACUPRESSURE MAT™ by laying on your back/spine where the nerves reach all over the body. This position gives you the best results and a tingling feeling of well being in the whole body. |

|
| Stomach: Lie face down on The HIMALAYA ACUPRESSURE MAT™, but please use caution. This can be a very intense, yet powerful position. You should be accustomed to back treatment first. This position benefits is said to help with indigestion. |
 |
| Feet: By standing on The HIMALAYA ACUPRESSURE MAT™, this position works on the reflexology zones which have an overall effect on the body. Using The HIMALAYA ACUPRESSURE MAT™ on the soles of the feet improves stability and balance. The feeling of having both feet on the ground increases with this position. |
 |
| Jaw:Lie on The HIMALAYA ACUPRESSURE MAT™ so that your face is touching, rotating to your other side midway through your meditation. If your skin is sensitive, place a thin cotton cloth between the mat and your skin (a towel would be too thick to feel the benefits). Clenching jaw and gritting teeth can be alleviated, and as a result a new shine to the whole face appears. |

|
| Neck: Place a pillow or rolled up towel under The HIMALAYA ACUPRESSURE MAT™ so that it shapes itself appropriately for the neck. Correctly positioned, it should give support from the back of the neck all the way to the base of the skull. This is very good for relieving tension in the shoulders and in particular for relaxing the Trapezium muscles that runs all the way up to the base of the neck. |
 |
| Cellulitis/Skin Therapy: By resting the back of the legs to the Himalaya Acupressure Mat™ (the area where cellulites are most common) you will stimulate the blood circulation in the orange cells which produce cellulites because of the lack of blood flow and oxygen through these cells. |
